How to Live Well If You’re Not Lucky
Pay attention to your surroundings. Get to know the people nearby—how your parents are living, who your neighbors are, who is cleaning your street, and how the trash gets collected. Then find meaning in the life right around you, within reach, instead of wasting time chasing dreams.
If you’re not caught up in the scripted lives of internet strangers, if you focus more on the people and things around you rather than escaping, and if you face them calmly and handle your relationships and affairs with composure, your sense of comfort in your immediate environment will improve noticeably.
When life feels bad, it’s often because your desires exceed your abilities, and you remain stuck in those desires, unwilling to face reality and make the most of the present.
