Is there an opportunity to boost output by collaborating with a large number of small KOCs?
You see people sharing their experiences, and it usually goes something like this:
The earliest example of this was Perfect Diary partnering with many Xiaohongshu KOCs, and eventually setting up their own intermediary ad agency to handle this (not sure how things are now); the case I saw this time is about trying the same approach on Douyin, with the main monetization product being food delivery red packets (something like this, 50% off food delivery, purely promoting official channel red packets to earn order commissions).
In the early days, before Douyin blocked this kind of activity, it was a blue ocean market. A large number of young office workers needed this, and some could achieve monthly revenues of several hundred thousand RMB. But after Douyin stopped supporting it, the income dropped to just tens of thousands of RMB per month—still not worth it compared to building your own livestreaming setup (where costs likely exceed revenue), so the only option left is to partner with low-cost KOCs. However, suitable entertainment streamers don't fit the profile (they're mostly guys who wouldn't use food delivery), game streamers get banned for sharing red packets, and older women have irregular schedules and can't stream consistently. As for college students, they take the base salary but don't do the work, with unrealistic expectations.
In short, relying on KOCs to get something done is quite difficult, for two reasons: whether the business process can work (i.e., whether the platform allows it), and whether the people can cooperate (since streamers are non-standard individuals, hard to batch-replicate, making it impossible to scale).
