How do you think they’d respond? They’d tell you to write up a formal request, submit it for approval, and then they’d issue a notice ordering you to rectify the situation. Meaning: we’re aware of your plan, we’ve rejected it, and we’re commanding you to comply. Whether you actually comply… well, let’s just say there’s plenty more to the story. And if you push further—“I see the neighbors have already done it and they’ve lived with it for ten, fifteen years”—what do you think they’d say? They’d only tell you that some things lose their charm when spelled out. Whether it’s interesting or not, and how many layers of meaning are really at play here… you’ll have to read between the lines.
