Google and Baidu Agree on the Future in 2022

Both investments are in the future of AI and its enabling technologies—namely cloud computing and autonomous (driverless) vehicle services.

Today, Baidu’s autonomous driving service covers roughly a dozen cities in China (and it doesn’t yet seem consumer-facing). Google also operates in multiple major cities worldwide.

Meanwhile, Jidu, a Baidu subsidiary, unveiled its first driverless robot concept car in June. Mass production is expected in 2023, and the company is actively expanding its team. Here’s hoping Baidu has the financial strength to keep pushing ahead and deliver on driverless technology.
