Standardized products are destined to be unprofitable.
You can use someone else's 1/20 manpower, at 1/20 the price, in 1/20 the time to build the same project, snatch their market away, and completely wipe out the profits they spent decades earning from their groundbreaking product. Do you think they'll accept that? No way. They just don't bother playing with you anymore—they're off to start something new from scratch.
Only when you have the ability to rebuild profitability again, in a way others can't enter, do you gain real competitive advantage.
Fairness equals standardization, standardization equals screwing bolts, screwing bolts means no money.
Making money equals non-standard, non-standard equals unfair.
