What does "minimal variance" mean? It means minimal fluctuation from year to year. If you grow by 30% every year until you die, the variance is zero. If you grow between 20% and 30% each year, the maximum swing is just 10%.

To keep variance low, you're willing to lower the base growth rate—that's what playing it safe means.
In other words: I don't want years like +300% followed by -100%. The variance is too high.

When the moon is full, it wanes; when the sun is at its zenith, it begins to decline. When yang energy reaches its peak, it starts to fade—and a dragon that flies too high will have reason to regret.

Of all sixty-four hexagrams, which is the finest? It's the Qián (Modesty) hexagram—the only one where all six lines are auspicious.

Qián isn't about being humble; it's about building potential. You stay perpetually in bud—far luckier than fully blossoming.
Remaining in bud is an upward trajectory: you always hold reserves, always keep a trump card. As long as you don't play it, you're safe; once you've played them all, you're in peril.

When all bad news is out, it becomes good news; when all good news is out, it becomes bad news—as prosperity peaks, decline follows.
