Don’t Expect Others to Do What You Can’t Do for Yourself
If you can't do something yourself, don't expect others to do it for you.
Think of a person as a light bulb. Most of us are like incandescent bulbs—barely efficient at producing light.
When you buy a light bulb, it's not meant to heat up your room, right? So humans invented the LED, where over 90% of the energy actually goes toward producing light.
Of course, "producing light" versus "generating heat" is just a metaphor. That useless heat stands for the time most people waste their whole lives away on things that get them nowhere.
What's causing all this wasted energy?
Expecting others to do what you refuse—or simply can't—do yourself.
The moment you crush the habit of expecting other people to handle tasks you're either incapable of or just don't want to do, you reclaim the vast majority of time you've been squandering every single day.
Now the next step is simple: invest that reclaimed time back into yourself, and finally tackle the very things you were counting on someone else to handle.
To change oneself is divine; to try changing others is plain madness.
