Boost Cognitive Density: Solve 200 Targeted Problems, Don’t Just Read for Two Hours

CategoryReading Notes

Boost your density—boost the density of your thinking.
For example, if you’re a student, would you rather spend two hours reading a textbook or solve 200 problems that cover all the key concepts in that book?
Choose the latter.
Because when you’re just reading, your time isn’t fully utilized. That means within those two hours, there are likely many minutes—and even seconds—where you’re dozing off or zoning out.
But if you force yourself to solve one problem every 36 seconds and must understand why each wrong answer was wrong, then you’ve been intensely focused for those full two hours.
If you’ve spent the past decade studying and working with that kind of second-by-second intensity, even just eight hours a day will leave your peers far behind. #ReadingNotes
