Rent Round is a platform that lets landlords compare letting agents. It’s free for landlords and charges agents on a monthly subscription basis. Agents only appear on landlords’ comparison lists once they’ve paid their annual fee of £15,000.
In other words, letting agents pay for the right to advertise and get seen. Paying gets you in front of landlords and increases your chances of securing rental properties. (It started as a directory for letting agents—agents paid to be listed and visible, combined with search ads and SEO to drive visibility.)
Growth:
Attracting agents was tough at first. Our strategy rested on three pillars:
- We made lots of cold calls to reach agency decision-makers.
- We used email lists to introduce our service and explain how we help agents.
- We paid for coverage on major property media platforms.
The business runs on a subscription model. Agents pay £29.99 per month to be included in landlords’ searches. We don’t charge any additional commission on the clients we convert for them.
The key to the model is simple: the less paid traffic you rely on and the more organic traffic you drive, the more profitable it becomes:
