Seeing those marketing accounts with pretty avatars, I’d wonder if they’re actually converting—everyone’s skeptical.

Same here.

But lately, I watched a friend use an outrageously glamorous profile pic for user acquisition, and it really does work.

With a regular avatar, they’d get three or four new users a day. With the pretty one? Over eighty.

Then there are the ones who just send red envelopes of 1000+ yuan straight to that avatar every week or so, hoping to play together—and sometimes, after casually dropping a city name, someone’s already offering to drive over to meet up.

Looks like秀场（performing-style）streamers—especially those who are good-looking or lean hard into beauty filters—really are making real money.

Another reminder: if people keep doing something, it’s because it pays.
