Life is a god-tier game

The defining characteristic of an idiot is not knowing they’re one, and consistently assuming everyone else is the idiot.

While you’re busy looking down on someone, you’re falling behind their pace of growth. Being late to the game means they’ll sweep away the partner you were eyeing, pocket the money that could have been yours, and seize the bright future that was meant for you.

For some, coming from wealthy families, being slow to mature isn’t a big deal. It’s like playing an arcade game: if you waste the early levels, there’s always another coin to insert. You still get a second chance.

But for those from disadvantaged backgrounds who are also slow to mature… well, you know how it goes. To put it plainly, you only have one coin, scraped together by your parents over an entire lifetime. Scoring as high as you did was the accumulated fortune of several generations—literally, the kind of luck that makes your ancestors’ graves emit smoke. Now, if you fritter away that last coin playing games, you’ve burned through your family’s ancestral luck. In that case, all you can say is: that’s fate. No one is going to hand you a second coin.

They might have ten or eight coins; you have just one. That’s the reality—the different starting configurations each of us is dealt.
