I’ve shared this before: studying abroad is no longer cost-effective, especially for those who sold their homes between 2015 and 2019 to go overseas and have now returned to buy a house and get married. This article explains again that a 30-year career in China with a monthly salary of 6,000 RMB equals the tuition cost of a 7-year study abroad experience in Europe. On average, the annual expense for studying in Europe is 300,000 RMB, and in Australia, it’s 400,000 RMB. After returning home, most people missed out on the asset appreciation from rising housing prices and instead faced doubled costs as the market cooled. They also missed the wage growth boom driven by the internet industry and were caught in the economic downturn.
