Why are EV charging stations collectively raising prices?

A certain CEO crunched the numbers: a charging post needs to handle 6 orders per day, and it would take 3 years to recoup the installation costs of a charging pile. So on one hand, this is about recovering costs early to improve cash flow; on the other, with more EVs on the road (the ratio of cars to chargers is approaching 1:1), it's basically time for industry alliances to jointly raise prices and start harvesting. Of course, the publicly stated reason is that summer electricity rates are increasing under industrial pricing, but the real reasons are unclear. What's certain is that prices have at least doubled (an average increase of more than ¥0.5 per kWh), though private home-installed charging piles only saw electricity costs rise by a few fen.

That's why I've been advising people for a long time to ask clearly when buying a house whether the garage allows you to install your own charging station.
