The key difference is whether you own the means of production. Anyone who doesn't is a worker (for example, if you work at Tencent but don't hold stock options, and leave with nothing, you're a platform worker who doesn't own the means of production).
So the only thing that can truly change social class is heritable productive assets—namely, a business.
