Huqiu County’s French-Style Foie Gras Hits 2B RMB Annual Output
For more than 20 years, the people of Huoqiu have been raising Landau geese and producing foie gras. The county processes over 4 million Landau geese annually, yielding more than 5,000 tons of goose liver pâté and 18,000 tons of goose by-products each year. The industry's annual output value is close to 2 billion yuan, with the county's foie gras production accounting for over one-third of the national total. Foie gras commands a high price—often referred to as a delicacy of the French royal court—and sells for more than 160 yuan per kilogram. Locals consume very little of it; 90% of the foie gras is shipped to coastal cities.
