Will China See a Large Population Unable to Participate in the Workforce?

Given the current situation in China where it’s almost impossible to find a job after 30, we might not avoid Japan’s scenario:

Relying on social assistance and parents' pensions to get by, and once the parents pass away, living off inheritance until it runs out, then dying alone (usually around age 55). (Currently, about 1 million people in Japan are in this situation.)

However, our situation is still somewhat better. Even if you don’t pay pension insurance or other contributions, by a certain age you’d still receive around 30,000 yen per month—about 1,200 RMB. In China, if you don’t pay, it’s zero. In ordinary rural areas, even when contributions are made, the annual pension is only around 600–1,500 RMB.
