Marriage Certificates Are Now Universally Available Across China

This news is a bit late to the party. No wonder the marriage rate has ticked up — it seems people can now just grab their ID on a whim while traveling and get married, since the requirements have gotten so minimal.

For the cultural and tourism sector, the travel industry might soon add new selling points and itineraries that bundle trips with marriage registration into an all-in-one service.

Inter-provincial marriage registration piloted in 2021, expanded to 21 provinces in 2023, and rolled out nationwide in 2025.
