High PM2.5 Levels at Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
I'd recommend that EV owners charging at external charging stations ask staff to wear PM2.5-rated masks. Of course, gas stations for conventional cars and residential buildings along heavily trafficked roads also face excessive PM2.5 issues (caused by vehicle emissions, tire wear, static electricity, etc.).
In general, pollution concentration is highest below 10 meters, and floors below the 11th tend to be worse (visible dust accumulation). If you're buying property in such an environment, it's advisable to choose a floor 11th or higher. That said, PM2.5 particles actually suspend up to around 500 meters high—roughly equivalent to a 150-story building—so this approach can only minimize inhalation as much as possible. If your building isn't very tall and is in such an environment, keep windows and doors closed as much as possible.
The main health risk involves respiratory diseases. Once inhaled, these particles tend to accumulate in the respiratory tract and progressively worsen respiratory and cardiovascular systems, ultimately increasing the risk of cancer, particularly lung cancer.
