Cultivating a sales model means no education, only selection.
If you're a salesperson, you wouldn't tell them what to do—you just hand them a plane ticket and send them to some unfamiliar city. They're unhappy on their own, right? Do they also want to score some early wins so they can earn money and reunite with their family?
This is human nature. If they're comfortable, they'll be too lazy to move. But if they're struggling, they'll think: Why am I selling my time to the company in such pain? If all I get is that pitiful fixed salary—with no commissions, no bonuses—why suffer through this, thousands of miles from home, wasting my youth? For what?
So they push themselves to actively visit clients and pursue orders. But how do you win over clients? The corporate headquarters won't teach you that—they only make sure you feel miserable.
Won't this drive all the salespeople away? A salesperson's only role is to close deals. If you close deals, I'll reward you heavily. You land an eight-figure deal, I'll give you a seven-figure commission. That's how the people who can actually close deals stay. But why should those who can't close deals be comfortable? If they're comfortable, they'll just settle in and never leave. This isn't a nursing home—we need you to feel uncomfortable every day. If you're miserable and can't make money, you'll leave on your own.
Those who can earn money will naturally rise to the top.
This is what I call letting the market itself cultivate salespeople. Many outstanding salespeople and skilled operators are forged through pressure and筛选 (screened out).
Do what you love, and you won't need the environment to force you. But the people you hire? They're just working a job. You can't expect them to love that job. Give them generous compensation and full trust, and they might just lie flat and do nothing.
Of course, from every angle, this approach is hard to pull off nowadays. In this era, nobody can truly force someone into massive amounts of training. Those successful people we see today are almost uniformly driven by passion—they're enthusiasts at heart. They might come from wealthy families and not need the money at all; they just love playing around, and then they somehow make it big.
If you don't want to change your destiny, why force yourself to suffer and let circumstances change it for you? Since you don't want to change your destiny, you should learn to make peace with it. Don't reject from the depths of your consciousness that you might become a security guard. Everyone was a cherished child when young—it's perfectly normal to grow up to be a security guard.
