Another Risk Story

I’ve been married for a long time and, for various reasons, handed my paycheck over to my wife.

Then my eldest uncle needed money for surgery. When I went to my wife for funds and couldn’t get any, something felt off. We eventually found out it was online gambling—230,000 yuan mostly lost.

It ended in divorce, debt collection, and everything falling apart.

Sometimes life really leaves you helpless.

Risks can strike at any time

Quite an interesting post.

I originally thought my father-in-law only had 50,000 in online loans, but then a further 200,000 in online debt was revealed later. (It's a form of staged lending, somewhat like losing money gambling.)

The potential risk is significant, and unsurprisingly, my wife wants to help by using our own money to pay off her family's original debts.

You never know who might bring you such significant risk.

People are capable of growth; those without it are merely tools.

Talent is the key asset—specifically, the kind of person who possesses growth potential. Without it, you're just a tool used for a specific phase.

Only by finding what you're good at will your odds of winning exceed others'; only by finding what you love can you persist with ease. Then, focus on that and advance iteratively, gradually amplifying it until you ultimately break free from the bonds of fate—that is growth.

Human happiness is diverse; wanting to shop is just the cheapest form of it.

There are many things we truly want—achievement, respect, the desire to do something for others, to be remembered by history, to let our lives merge into a grand epic, and to find meaning. These are all far more refined forms of fulfillment than consumerism.

Long ago, in an earlier era, so many heroes emerged—each shaping their fate in more elevated ways and experiencing richer, more complete lives.

All laziness is a trade of risk

Don’t assume smart people never make silly mistakes. If you can figure it out, surely a smart person can too. You wouldn’t dare skip a work meeting even once—imagine what would happen if you did. Your colleagues would take the opportunity to push all the blame onto you while you’re gone, let alone anything involving money.

Who asked you to take a nap? If you zone out for a moment, who else is going to end up holding the bag but you?
