Mali’s music economy: pay-per-download on the street, with Bluetooth sharing

Everyone in the West African country of Mali has a mobile phone, but getting online is a hassle. Street vendors have their laptops loaded with songs—listen to a track for pennies, and it feels like an iTunes brick-and-mortar store. Pay up, and the song gets transferred to your phone; people then share tracks with each other via Bluetooth.
