To Control Prices You Must Have Inventory First

CategoryReading Notes

If you want to control prices, there's one essential prerequisite: you need to have the goods. You've got to hold inventory.

If you have supply, releasing it gradually drives prices up; if you have supply, dumping it yourself can drive prices down. You can play both sides—long and short. Without inventory, none of it matters.

If a sector is still nascent, more concept than substance, pushing its price down is easy—as long as you're willing.

But if a sector has already sold out, is fully occupied, and thriving commercially, artificially suppressing its price is far from simple. At the end of the day, it comes down to supply being dispersed rather than concentrated.
