You’re only competing with the 8-10% who don’t quit. Stay focused and keep going.

CategoryReading Notes

When you start creating, you'll find that many others are doing the same thing, but you actually don't need to compete with them. On one hand, you only need to be yourself and compare with who you were yesterday, constantly sharpening your craft. On the other hand, most of the time, all it takes is persisting a little longer. Here are three examples:

Data scraped from Substack shows that 60% of newsletters haven't been updated in the past 90 days, and 65.5% have ever published fewer than 10 issues.(link)

In 2022, there were 2 million podcasts worldwide. Of those, 26% had released just one episode, 44% fewer than three, and only 36% had published more than ten.(link)

After uploading their first 100 videos, MKBHD had 74 subscribers, MrBeast had 730, and PewDiePie had 2,500.(link)

You're not competing against every other creator in your niche. You're only competing against the 8–10% who refuse to give up. To stand out, simply focus on yourself and keep going.
