Is Your Product Worth Promoting?

CategoryReading Notes

When a large number of users are drawn to your product by some clever trick, but your product is shoddy and can’t meet their needs, you’ll just end up with a crowd of people who hate it. That only makes failure more likely.

Before you rack your brain trying to acquire as many users as possible, make sure you’ve built a product that’s truly indispensable. One useful trick is to ask your active users how they’d feel if your product disappeared.

1 Extremely disappointed
2 Somewhat disappointed
3 Not disappointed
4 Not applicable — I no longer use the product

If 40% or more respondents choose “extremely disappointed,” you can confidently invest heavily in promotion.
