Marriage: A Win or a Loss?
Being able to calculate is an important skill.
There’s actually an unwritten rule in how we rate the opposite sex: the more you can get away with taking advantage of someone, the higher you rate them.
Here are the typical scenarios most people encounter:
1. You got a great deal
2. You got a small deal
3. Neither side got anything
4. You got taken advantage of
As time goes on, it starts to feel a lot like investing in the stock market:
You buy a stock when it’s at 60+, then it drops to 40+, so you tell yourself you’ll sell if it hits 50. But it keeps falling to 30, so now you’re telling yourself you’ll sell if it recovers to 40. Then it drops to 20, and it’s heartbreaking. Now it’s at 10.
You need to learn how to calculate the big picture in your life and set yourself a stop-loss point. You can say you’re not in a hurry, that you want to maximize your interests, but time isn’t infinite. Just waiting around won’t necessarily lead you to the right person. When things aren’t working out, it’s time to cut your losses.
