In March 2022, Shanghai was largely operating under a free-market environment, with people competing freely to secure resources. What did that lead to? Soaring prices and exorbitant delivery fees.

The essence of a free-market economy is resource predation.

What’s the primary goal of a planned economy? To ensure the distribution of minimum survival resources.

Yet whenever the state actually implements planned measures, many people immediately protest, worrying about losing income. Notably, some of those objecting are the very people who, under pure free-market competition, were nearly starving.
