$3.3M Watch Sales on YouTube
Motivational Quote:
If you have an idea, give it a shot. Yes, you might fail, but you’ll learn something along the way. After that, even if you fail in your next ten attempts, you’ll keep learning. By the eleventh try, you might just hit your Delray watch (success).
Delray Watch, a luxury watch dealer, with main product prices ranging from $3,000 to $6,000.
Experience:
Started as a project manager at a small 12-person software company. Two years later, took over as CEO, learning the core fundamentals of business, management skills, and how sales drive growth. Within 16 months, doubled revenue and acquired the main competitor.
During this time, developed an interest in luxury watches and decided to leave my job to pursue this business. I found a business partner with over a decade of experience in the watch industry, who is also a small YouTuber.
We divided responsibilities based on our strengths:
Federico (business partner) handles sales, media, marketing, and the watch industry. I cover technology, operations, accounting, and expansion.
In August 2017, we officially launched our company and website from my apartment kitchen, spending $4,000.
After selling the first watch, I started funding inventory purchases myself. All traffic came from YouTube—initially peaking at 200 clicks per day, now reaching thousands daily and 140,000 monthly viewers.
Revenue in 2017: $200,000.
Revenue in 2018: $2 million.
Revenue in 2019: Approximately $4 million.
To secure stock from suppliers, I proactively accepted higher wholesale costs, since large retailers always buy out inventory at lower prices, leaving me without stock.
Major players in the industry typically don’t want consumers to understand how the watch business works. Marketing revolves around history, romance, and interesting stories, leaving room for content that reveals the inner workings of the watch industry.
I also tried creating content on other platforms, but generated almost no customers there. YouTube remains our primary source of clients.
