How I Grew to 2200 Twitter Followers in 4 Months

A small creator shared their cold-start approach:

At first:

Leave comments on 20 creators daily

Comment on posts by similar creators who are two orders of magnitude larger. When you have no followers, even great content goes unnoticed—and it’s easy for opportunists to steal it.

Send 10 DMs daily to creators two tiers above you

Review their content and bio, then open with something they clearly care about. Build rapport this way.

Publish four tweets every day

Two should drive growth, one should feel authentic, and one should establish authority.

Growth tweets deliver solid ideas within your niche.

Authenticity tweets showcase what makes you different—share what you do in your life, tell your story, or explain what you stand for.

Authority tweets consist of case studies, recommendations, and other proof points. Scheduling helps!

Try to craft one standout post each week

Once you hit 250 followers, start intentionally creating viral content. Tag creators with audience sizes two orders of magnitude larger than yours to spark interaction (a few retweets from someone with over 5,000 followers helped me grow from 800 to 1,800).

After that, things fall into place naturally (you can slowly unfollow creators who never engage with you).
