Do the job, not the person
CategoryReading Notes
The message here is clear to management: your job is to pursue KPIs, and your subordinates should focus on results. Without performance, there's no discussion.
Don't come to me playing the nice guy — that would defeat the purpose of hiring you.
In other words, you must maintain your team's competitiveness. Let go of those who aren't suited, and bring in those who are. It's natural to develop bonds over time working together, and shared successes build loyalty — but all of this must serve the overarching goal of strengthening team competitiveness.
Otherwise, if people are happy but results fall short, the company has no future.
This principle applies more to smaller organizations and less so to larger ones.
