Recently been looking at mattresses, making a buying memo since I'm broke right now—here's the conclusion:

For big brands, King Koil is probably the most recognizable in the mattress world, specifically the Starfall series (usually model B, around 10,000 RMB)—it's basically the official mattress for high-end hotels. Big brands mainly come with a hefty brand premium, and there's not a strong correlation between做工 and price. But if you want that high-end sleep experience (the feel of staying at a luxury hotel), skip all the other big brands and just go with this one. It's hotel-grade after all, so the craftsmanship is relatively stable (even though value for money isn't great, it won't be a total letdown overall).

Best value for money: what most people think of is Xiaomi's offerings. They launched two price segments specifically to capture the market just below premium: the thousand-yuan-range M3,

and then there's the 5,000 RMB-range model. Honestly, it doesn't matter much—they're both pretty disappointing. The core issues are sagging and losing shape; one person might be fine, but two people add enough weight and it falls apart.

Better options include the Neat Home AB-side mattress (around 1,600 RMB)—solid performance, slight sinking but minor, good materials. Other than getting a bit warm in summer, there aren't any obvious flaws. When compared to alternatives, having no real weaknesses is itself an advantage: stable performance, hard to regret the purchase. So the plan is to go with this Neat Home model (maybe they felt they sold it too cheap before, so they released an upgraded version with a 200 RMB price hike—but the stable performance is acceptable).

Of course, there are even cheaper options, mainly foam ones. Like this popular Ziru model (around 750 RMB)—pretty good for the price. You can search for their "good sleep" version if you want.
