Leadership means bearing responsibility
Ren yuan means you’re dissatisfied above, misunderstood below, and still short on resources — so much so that your hair turns gray from stress every day.
That’s exactly the point. If a job were easy, why would it be assigned to you? If anyone could handle it, why would you be the one in charge?
Unless you’re content to avoid greater responsibility and larger undertakings, you have to learn to adapt.
The more responsibility you take on, the larger the environment you must adapt to, and the more grievances you’ll have to swallow. That’s what “ren yuan” really means.
An ordinary employee can go to their department manager and vent — once the reasoning is clear, the rest is the leader’s problem to solve.
What’s the point of debate among executives? Every item on the table is a resource-constrained situation. What matters is how they get things done within those limits.
