How Much Do Foreigners Spend on Dates?

According to 2022 survey data, 75% of people go on fewer than ten dates a year, spending an average of $1,300. Men pay the bill more than 80% of the time. A typical first date involves a walk followed by drinks at a bar, averaging $70 per outing, with the priciest date costing $492. More than half of respondents said they accepted a date because of the other person’s profession or income level.

Of course, spending varies by income tier. People earning over $150,000 annually spend more than twice as much as those with lower incomes—some end up being averaged in.

About 60% of respondents said inflation hasn’t reduced the number of dates; it’s just changed the itinerary. Instead of going to the movies, for example, they now buy snacks and stream Netflix at home.
