The only future terminal humans need will be for AI interaction
CategoryNews Briefs
What people will need in the future is a terminal interface for interacting with AI. Today that means desktops and phones; tomorrow it might equally well be watches, glasses, or any other directly interactive endpoint. Those with money will enjoy a richer virtual-reality experience, while those without will settle for something thinner—the blended reality of the future will eventually arrive.
Back when Lei Jun predicted smartphones would become the all-controlling terminal, he stacked an entire ecosystem around it. The future may instead link everything through interaction with AI. The Iron Man assistant is a great direction: round-the-clock voice agents like Yuanbao Voice, Douban Voice, Qianwen Language, plus real-time video-call interaction. Earbuds and glasses alike could become interaction endpoints.
