Notable regional breeds include Qingyuan chicken (known for its rich fat), Lushi chicken, Gushi chicken, and Zhengyang Sanhuang chicken (known for its firm meat). The commercial food-service industry, however, relies almost entirely on white-feather broilers—so-called “inferior” breeds that reach slaughter weight in just 40 days.
