From the current perspective, in terms of global technology sharing—starting its formal experimental phase in 1958—it is projected that a commercial demonstration reactor achieving controlled nuclear fusion for power generation could be established by 2050. In other words, we would realize artificial solar energy; barring major obstacles, this should be achievable within this century.
