It’s your ranking in the track that determines your returns.

Whether reading is useful is like entrepreneurship: if you succeed, it’s useful; if you don’t, it’s a waste of money. If your startup works, it’s the peak of your life; if not, you’d be better off working for someone else. Keep your eye on your ranking and stop being stubborn. No track is inherently useful — only you are. No track is inherently right — only your choices are.

The first place gets the meat, second and third get the broth, and everyone else licks the plate. It’s the same in every field.
