Why is management always working overtime?

They clearly don’t need to do the hands-on work, so why are they always working late? Many of those meetings could easily be canceled—so why hold them? Because whoever’s absent in a meeting takes the fall. That’s the iron law of workplace meetings. When a group gets together and you’re not there, any decisions made by the other managers will inevitably be against your interests. Whoever’s missing out is the one who suffers.
