You cannot expect to outperform others by taking the same actions they do.
If you don't make active bets, you can't expect returns above average; but if your active bets are wrong, your returns will fall below average (and losses may be greater).

You must find an edge that the crowd lacks. You need to think of what they haven't considered, see what they've missed, or bring insights they don't have.
When all investors favor something, their buying can drive its price too high. When they detest it, their selling can make it too cheap. Therefore, it's more profitable to buy what most people hate and sell what most people like.
Things that make money involve buying debt or issuing repayable loans, and earning interest from companies that perform well and generate profits.
If you want to be uncommon, don't do what the common crowd does.
