Most people’s opportunities in life come from work

Because you’re working, because you’re providing value, that’s why opportunities come your way. If you try to make friends with people when you have nothing to offer, nobody’s going to care. The only reason someone will pay attention to you is if they can get something out of it.

When you don’t have a platform, when you’re only representing yourself, what do you usually run into? Scammers and opportunists looking to take advantage of you.

How does a person’s value come about? It’s the accumulation of all kinds of resources you bring to the table.

The biggest benefit of leveraging a platform is getting a quick, clear view of how top players in various industries—the so-called successful people—actually made it. This is crucial. Because from the margins, you’re often guessing. You only see that they made money, that they got high returns, but you have no idea how they actually made that money, or the real stories behind those returns.

When you see real, living case studies and compare them to your own life, you’ll notice things about them that you could never have, or things they gave up that you could never give up. And that’s when you realize: I’m not getting involved in that.

You don’t need to do everything in life. As long as you know what you can’t do, everything else becomes your opportunity.
