When someone waits on you, it's for the money, not genuine goodwill. Just like when you hire someone for a renovation, spending money doesn't guarantee a stress-free experience.
If you can handle many things yourself and don't need to rely on others, you might earn slightly less year over year in the future—but your quality of life could be higher. After all, there's a premium between someone else doing it for you versus doing it yourself.
