Two Important Theories for Ordinary People

A few well-recognized theories:

Start with a niche market and first acquire 1,000 paying customers. If the market is too large, your competitors will double in number. Profits may not necessarily be higher, but the threshold for your products and services must be significantly higher. Ordinary people should always discard the bias of "either get big or don't bother."

Try to start with a project that one person can handle on their own. Groupthink and collective biases make you less efficient; a single person can move faster. For everything else that requires collaboration, there are existing tools to solve the problem. If you can't find one, that's likely another profitable opportunity.
