What determines their asking prices is often their differing past experiences.

Pick a city, bring in two people with exactly the same income—one a herder, the other a farmer. Ask them to put a price on the same vegetables, or the same lamb. The two will give you different answers. Their current judgments are shaped by their prior experiences.
