When you first started working, your hour was worth $100. That means accompanying your girlfriend to chat has an hourly rigid cost of $100 as well.
Later, as your value rose, your hour became worth $1,000. Unfortunately, that rigid cost of chatting with your girlfriend also climbs to $1,000. From an economics perspective, is it more cost-effective to find a partner when your time is worth $100 or when it's worth $1,000?
Go back even further to your college days. Your hour was worth pennies—almost nothing. Finding a partner then was essentially zero cost.
