How to Achieve Cross-Platform Productivity

CategoryLife Tips

Setting aside the apps everyone already knows, this post covers some lesser-known ones.

WeChat Official Accounts Assistant + Weibo + WordPress + iCity

WeChat Official Accounts Assistant is mainly for publishing content to your WeChat public account, and it’s better suited for longer-form writing (though I don’t publish much these days). Weibo, on the other hand, is for short-form posts.

Beyond those two relatively well-known options, there’s iCity—a more private microblogging platform where I jot down diaries and other casual notes.

For WordPress, pick a clean and minimal theme and use the official mobile app to back up and sync your blog content across devices.

Kindle + WhereMyLife

When I say “Kindle,” I’m not just talking about the e-reader hardware—I’m referring more to the software experience. Paired with WhereMyLife, a site that automatically pushes content (shout-out to the developer for the free trial), it’s incredibly easy to get all your subscriptions delivered across every platform. You can freely add your own sources, set delivery schedules, and avoid the annoyance of random, sporadic notifications. Instead, your content arrives in a neat, magazine-style format on a regular cadence.

Office + OneNote + OneDrive

I’m not exactly a power user, but if you want serious productivity tools, I highly recommend getting a Microsoft account. If you don’t use Office much, you can grab a tied-to-account, perpetual-license version from Taobao or similar channels (the kind with the year stamp). Then spend just 2 RMB on Taobao to upgrade your OneDrive to 15 GB permanently. Link both Office and OneNote to OneDrive, pin it to your desktop, and let your files pile up there by default. Once you organize them properly, you’ll have seamless cross-platform file syncing and updating.

QQ Mail + Outlook + Todo

It depends on how you define your email strategy. If you can, keep a separate Gmail account too. That way you can cleanly separate spam and verification-code emails from your work and personal mailboxes. Both setups work well.

Add a todo app for scheduled reminders—if you need cross-platform sync, go with a dedicated todo tool; otherwise, each platform’s native reminder system is usually good enough.

Edge + Authenticator + Google Access Assistant

This combo lets you easily access most international websites while automatically saving, backing up, and autofilling passwords across all your devices—even with seamless cross-platform logins.

Final thought: Microsoft is hands-down the most user-friendly developer out there.
