Borrow money to buy land, hoping to sell it at a high price. If something goes wrong in between, the management team has already collected their hefty salaries and sky-high bonuses—nothing of their own money is lost.
This is exactly the same criticism Wall Street faced in 2008. They cause the mess, make everyone else foot the bill, and yet their bonuses remain completely untouched—the so-called golden parachutes.
