First, establish a monopoly in a niche market. Then, on the foundation of that success, expand into adjacent markets—growing your dominance one step at a time. Don’t pick fights with established industries, and especially don’t try to destroy them, because that invites trouble. The same principle applies when expanding into adjacent sectors: if you can’t beat a competitor, team up with them.
